TO ALL THE MOMS OUT THERE

Mother’s Day is the special day for special woman, in order to make her feel the most important and respected. The day is glorified by giving gifts like chocolates, cards, and jewelry to mothers on this day. This day is dedicated to thank all mothers for their responsibilities and hardships they undertake in a child’s upbringing. This festival is celebrated across 48 countries on various days. Though the days of celebration are different but the feeling and essence remains the same all over; to show gratitude for their efforts. Mothers Day is celebrated on the second Sunday of May in most of the countries including US, Australia, Canada and India when children shower their mothers with cards, chocolates, and flowers.

Evolution of mother’s day

The origin of Mother’s Day goes back to the era of ancient Romans and Greeks. But the roots of Mother’s Day history can also be traced in UK where a Mothering Sunday was celebrated; the day came into existence due to the hard work of the pioneering women of their times, Julia Ward Howe and Anna Jarvis.

In 1914, US President Woodrow Wilson formalized Mother’s Day by signing a resolution for having a day dedicated to mothers. Since then people across the world have been celebrating Mothers Day with joy and devotion.

In United Kingdom and Ireland, mother’s day is celebrated on the fourth Sunday of lent, which is also known as Mothering Sunday.
